Shift Change: Increasing the Presence of Women in Law Enforcement
At this FREE, 2-day conference, participants will learn about untapped career opportunities for women in the law enforcement and criminal justice career fields.
Shift Change: Increasing the Presence of Women in Law Enforcement is designed to advance the presence of women in law enforcement and criminal justice fields in the context of the 30×30 Initiative. The conference will include key-note presentations and moderated panel discussion for criminal justice professionals (Day 1) and regional key-note speaker, moderated panel discussion, and career fair, with specialized unit demonstrations for the public (Day 2).
Why this shift change? Women represent just over 50% of our population, yet only 12% of sworn officers and 3% of police leadership in the US. The representation is similar in our great state. Women represent a significant pool of applicants untapped by law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies, women who might not only fill vacant positions but also be an asset to public safety.
Shift Change: Increasing the Presence of Women in Law Enforcement is presented by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, in partnership with the North Carolina Justice Academy, North Carolina Law Enforcement Women’s Association, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
